13 Knots

(psychological thriller short film)

Andrea is a troubled woman plagued by a persistent nightmare. Each night, she finds herself abruptly awakened in a bed mysteriously situated on the desolate shoreline near her town. As the haunting visions persist, Andrea’s growing concern intensifies, blurring the line between her dreams and her reality, leading her to question if certain nightmares are bound to haunt her forever.

Writer’s Statement:

It takes thirteen knots to form a noose, a potent symbol of both self-inflicted or imposed torment. While the script and film purposefully invite individual interpretation, this narrative distinctly illuminates the dichotomy of justice, the intricate dynamics of abuse, and the harrowing depths to which trauma can plunge us. Certain experiences, whether actual or imagined, possess an indelible power, haunting us indefinitely. Such profound scares can bind us to a relentless cycle or imprison our thoughts, gradually suffocating us within their grip, relentlessly constricting our ability to break free.

Making It: Rolling With The Punches

(1 hour dramatic television pilot)

On the day of her meeting with a big-time Hollywood movie producer, aspiring film director Cameron Morrissey is abandoned by her best friend, film partner, and roommate. Now alone with her internship ending, no job lined up, and now nowhere to live, Cameron must navigate turbulent waters to see if she has what it takes to make it in the Los Angeles entertainment industry.

Writer’s Statement:

Upon my arrival in Los Angeles, I was immediately imparted with an insightful analogy: the entertainment industry is akin to an intricate game of chess. On the surface, achieving success may seem effortless, but the underlying reality can be harsh and unforgiving. I was forewarned it would take approximately two years before I started meeting the right people in Los Angeles. The road to success is an individual one based in self-discovery. You can’t take everyone with you and not everyone will follow as we see in the pilot when our main character is abandoned by her best friend.

Making It is an extremely personal and vulnerable piece as it highlights the many obstacles faced by myself and many others in the entertainment industry. Through Cameron’s experiences, we get to explore the many challenges of surviving in Los Angeles, struggling as an artist, choices we make, detours we take, the delicate balance between work and everyday life, and the immense pressures we put on ourselves to succeed. There are many ways to “make it” in the industry and through the various characters Cameron meets we get to experience the reality of success and the many versions of it.

Cameron's experiences elicit a sense of nostalgia among those who have already achieved success, while simultaneously serving as a guiding light for those who are still forging their own paths. I was told it would take about five years before you started getting to where you want to go, and that is when you decide your place in the chessboard of your life. Will you choose to be the king, the queen, the pawn, or the grandmaster?

Cloaked

(horror short film)

The classic story we all know takes on a chilling twist when a jogger is lured off the forest path by a mysterious song.

Writer’s Statement:

Cloaked ventures into the realm of chilling and macabre, offering a nightmarish twist to the cherished children's fable, Little Red Riding Hood. This adaptation, born from a thought-provoking poem I wrote, explores the unsettling notion that villains can often lurk beneath deceptive disguises. The lines blur between innocence and malevolence, as the tale unfolds into an adult nightmare that challenges our perceptions of good and evil.

Note: Cloaked is in official selection at film festivals right now. Announcements will be made soon.

Body Count

Writer’s Statement:

Body Count stands apart from anything else I've written, as it possesses a distinct and eccentric tone. It skillfully weaves together moments of strong comedy with weighty themes surrounding toxic and abusive relationships. The result is a captivating blend that balances the light and the dark, offering a unique exploration of these complex subjects told through the eyes of characters we both love and are disgusted by.

Amidst a unique annual tradition, two divorced best friends embark on a fateful vacation that takes a dark turn when a casual encounter turns deadly.

(dark dramedy 60 minute television pilot)

Seven Brews

(30 minute dramedy television pilot)

Following the loss of his father, Danny, a skilled beer brewer, crafts seven remarkable beer flavors that swiftly garner fame, catapulting his family brewery into the spotlight. However, as the brewery gains increasing acclaim, even securing a documentary deal, Danny's most renowned creation, Fred, begins to assume a life of its own. Meanwhile, Danny spirals deeper into the abyss of alcoholism, prompting his two closest friends to rally in an effort to persuade him to seek assistance before Fred consumes his very existence.

Writer’s Statement:

Seven Brews was the first television pilot I ever wrote that received options out of Los Angeles and was the catalyst for my moving out to California. It showcases the transformation of alcoholism from youthful immaturity, often dismissed as a passing phase, into a serious and dangerous lifestyle.
